Statistics covers mathematical theory and methods for extracting information from observational data, in view of solving real-world problems. As such, statistics has become one of the key fields in modern mathematics and is now used in academia, business and more generally, wherever decison-making comes into play.

The thematic semester "Statistics" organized by the Centre Henri Lebesgue will focus on recent advances in various areas of both fundamental and applied research in this field: statistical learning, statistical modelling, mathematical statistics, applications (archaeology, biology, weather...).
